About the Event
Tongues and Tapestry: We Speak in Colour is a half-day community writing workshop and open mic taking place on 26th September at Goldsmiths CCA as part of ESEA Heritage Month.
The project invites Lewisham’s East and Southeast Asian (ESEA) communities to come together to share stories, write poetry, connect, network, and celebrate their identities, cultures, and heritage.
Led by Lewisham based, award winning internationally renowned spoken word artist and facilitator, Y.A Poet (Yasmin Ali). The day will begin with a creative workshop offering space for reflection, expression, and collaborative writing, followed by an opportunity to enjoy refreshments and network. Followed by an opportunity to celebrate and share at our open mic event.
The project is designed to be intergenerational and inclusive, encouraging participation from across the community, including those new to poetry or performance.
