I'm Eileen,
I grew up in Vancouver, have long lived in London and am a 2.5th generation ('nissei-han') Japanese-Canadian (my dad was 1st and my mum was 2nd) with a British passport and family. I have roots and friends in many different places but I wanted to find a gang of friends here in the UK where I live, (you can read more about my motivations on the About page) to be able to share all those things I have found hard to share elsewhere. I'm Christine,
I grew up in Hartford, Connecticut. It was the seventies in suburbia, and the only Chinese restaurant was 45 minutes away in another state. Every few months, my parents packed the four of us into the family station wagon and drove 2 hours to New York City, where Chinatown and our pantry staples of rice and soy sauce beckoned.
Those glimpses of city lights caught my heart, and I fled the suburbs for university in Manhattan. My love for cities expanded across the ocean, and London is where I have lived the longest.
The suburbs inspired me to seek a place where I belonged, which is why I love the East Asian Girl Gang. Sharing stories, learning from each other, hanging out and eating. It doesn’t get much better than that!

I'm Angel,
I'm a second-generation Chinese-American. I grew up in Michigan, went to undergrad in NYC, worked in Texas and California, attended grad school in Boston, did long-distance to East Africa for two years and moved to London in 2024.
Given these global experiences, I am deeply appreciative of the need to find community wherever I go. That's what I love about EAGG; the sincerity of the connections between EAGG members and the extensive support that we give to each other, regardless of our backgrounds.
