EAGG Celebrates Year of the Snake

Writer: Eileen Wada WillettEileen Wada Willett

What did East Asian Girl Gang get up to, to celebrate Lunar NY? Eat of course!šŸ± Our annual Lunar NY potluck lunch was a day of new connections, deepening friendships, stories, laughter and food. Over everything from duck pancakes to ā€˜sekihanā€™ festive red bean rice, Members cooked, shared, and bonded in a crowded kitchen, then relaxed over plate after plate of scrumptious dishes.

šŸ’„ This was preceded by a special session run by EAGG member Wendy Chan who led a beauty-product-making session creating all natural, incredible smelling and for the most part, edible, lip scrubs, body butter and bath salts. Super interesting and hugely fun.

šŸ‘ šŸ‘ šŸ‘ What began as a small gathering of three women in 2022 has blossomed into a vibrant community of over 50 remarkable individuals. The East Asian Girl Gang (EAGG) brings together women from across Britain who share East Asian (and a few South-East Asian) roots, spanning an extraordinary range of professionsā€”from the creative realms of fashion and art and ballet to the precision worlds of science and finance and entrepreneurship.

šŸ‘ šŸ‘ šŸ‘ Beyond our diverse career paths, we've discovered something more profound: the unexpected connections and shared experiences that unite us. When I first envisioned EAGG, my goal was simple yet meaningfulā€”to create a space where women of all ages could forge genuine friendships, amplify our collective voice, celebrate each other's achievements, and provide mutual support based on our shared heritage. Now, watching the group evolve, I'm struck by how beautifully we've already begun to realize that vision.
